Sean Clements is a writer for the big and small screen. His latest project is a feature film called The Dink.
In the movie, Jake Johnson stars as Dusty “The Hammer” Boyd – a former tennis prodigy turned burnout. He spends his time teaching kids the game at his dad’s club. He’s dealing with a nagging injury. Dusty reluctantly tries pickleball as an alternative. He ends up falling in love with it.
He meets another pickleballer: Candace, played by Mary Steenburgen. They become… best buds? Maybe something more? The Dink is a very fun, very silly movie. You can catch it now on Apple TV.
The movie was inspired by some of Sean’s experiences with the sport – which he was very skeptical about at first as a pretty serious tennis player. We also get into his work as co-host of the comedy podcast Hollywood Handbook alongside Hayes Davenport and what it’s like to make celebrities uncomfortable on that show.
