About MaxFun

Maximum Fun is a pioneering podcast network, a home to dozens of shows, some of which we produce and some of which are produced independently. Our shows are about Comedy and Culture, and all of them try to put some good into the world.

Our company’s history dates to Jesse Thorn’s college radio show, The Sound of Young America, which he started to release as a podcast way back in 2004.

MaxFun shows are downloaded millions of times a month, and have won a bunch of awards. If you’re interested in working with us, please send an email to pitch@maximumfun.org

Our podcasts are the basis for our audience community, and over the years, we’ve been fortunate to be able to bring folks together in a bunch of different venues at past events.  And here’s a calendar with any upcoming live shows and events.

Our shows and our audience are the engines of the good that we do in the world. We do what we do because we think it matters to people. And we recognize our privilege, and the trust that people place in us. We try to use that position to direct attention and resources to deserving causes.

Everything that we do is enabled by our business model, which is a boring topic, but something we have thought a lot about, and chosen with care. In brief, we support ourselves and our partner shows primarily through memberships, from folks just like you. This means that we are primarily accountable to our audience.

On June 30, 2023, Maximum Fun became a 100% worker-owned cooperative! This is honestly too important to try to summarize, so you should just read about why we became a co-op, and why we think it matters.
