I Wish I Made That is a segment where we invite some of our favorite creative folks to dive deep into a piece of culture. On the latest episode, we’re joined by Eric Appel.
Eric is a writer and director. On TV, he’s written for shows like Human Giant and Crank Yankers. He’s directed episodes of The Office, New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
In 2022, Appel made his first feature film – Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. Earlier this year, he directed The Breadwinner starring comedian Nate Bargatze.
The thing he wished he had made? Eric talks about his love of Pee-wee’s Big Adventure and the time he got to work with Paul Reubens’ iconic character.
