Episode notes

Jeff Hiller is someone you’ve seen. If you haven’t seen him in his Emmy-winning turn on SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE, you might have seen him on the (newly Emmy nominated) WIDOW’S BAY or PLURIBUS (which has, since this interview took place, earned him his second Emmy acting nom). Or maybe you’ve seen his memoir, ACTRESS OF A CERTAIN AGE, on the bookstore shelves. If you don’t know Jeff, now you will: in this episode, he  tells Jordan about his connections to the timeless star-studded Southern dramedy STEEL MAGNOLIAS. But first he shares the significance of a character who brought the romcom “gay best friend” front and center at last: it’s  George from THE OBJECT OF MY AFFECTION, one of Paul Rudd’s earliest roles.

Then Jordan has one quick thing about a new can’t-miss dad movie, William Kaufman’s MAN OF WAR.

About the show

On Feeling Seen, writer and general enthusiast Jordan Crucchiola invites filmmakers, writers, comedians, and artists to discuss the movie characters that made them “feel seen.” It’s about that instant when a person connects to a piece of art so deeply that they see themselves reflected in it. Every week Jordan gabs it up with a guest about those magical moments when they were watching a film and realized, “That’s me!” It’s an informative, funny, and comforting show about our intimate relationship with movies, the impact they have on our lives, and how they influence our art.
