There aren’t many animators more beloved than Genndy Tartakovsky.
Genndy grew up in the ’80s. He enjoyed watching Disney classics and he was a big fan of Don Bluth pictures like The Land Before Time and American Tale. At a young age, he started drawing obsessively. In the early ’90s, he got his start on Tiny Toon Adventures and never looked back.
He went on to create two golden era Cartoon Network shows: Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack. He has worked on countless other animated projects including Star Wars: Clone Wars, The Powerpuff Girls, Batman: The Animated Series, Hotel Transylvania, Primal – the list could go on and on.
He has a brand new animated film. One that you should probably not show your kids. Fixed is an animated movie about dogs. The protagonist, Bull, is a bull terrier voiced by Adam Devine. Bull is due to get fixed. So he and his dog friends go out on the town for one last wild night. It is a raunchy movie. There are many animated butts. It’s also a very sweet story about friendship.
Genndy joins us to talk about his latest animated project. He takes us back to the early days of Cartoon Network and what it took to get his shows made when the channel was in its infancy.
