David Wain is a comedy legend. Alongside Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Ken Marino and many other heavy hitters, Wain co-founded The State, massively influential comedy troupe.

David and The State have a lot of great movies in their filmography: They Came Together, Role Models, A Futile and Stupid Gesture, and of course: Wet Hot American Summer

Every few years, David Wain gets together with Ken Marino. They lock themselves up 10 hours a day for about a week – literally. Each time they do this, Marino & Wain come out with a movie. A fully written first draft of a screenplay.

Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass is the latest screenplay from one of these exercises, and now it’s a movie in theaters now!

Wain talks about the film on the latest episode. He gets into how long it actually took the movie to get made after the screenplay was written and how he got Jon Hamm to agree to be in the film. Plus, he gets into rocking out with Marino in their cover band: Middle Aged Dad Jam Band.
