If you know Andrew Rannells for one thing, it’s probably the part that made him break through – Elder Price in The Book of Mormon.
Before his big break he starred in several musicals including Hairspray and Jersey Boys. On television he had some of the funniest scenes in HBO’s Girls.
These days you can catch him starring alongside Allison Janney in a new movie Miss You, Love You. Rannell’s plays Jamie in the film. Jamie is the assistant to a world renowned journalist whose step-father just died. Rannells is great in it, like you’d expect – charming, handsome and unfailingly midwestern friendliness.
Rannells talks about his journey to the Broadway stage and some memorable scenes from his roles on television including HBO’s Girls. He also did voice acting for anime shows like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh – and we made sure to get into that.
A version of this interview originally aired in February of 2013.
