Guests:
Monte Belmonte

Jake and Janey's urban neighborhood has been plagued by break-ins. They want to protect their house, but disagree on the best way to deter burglars.

We are joined again this week by guest bailiff Monte Belmonte of 93.9 WRSI The River in Northampton, Massachusetts.

Thanks to Matt Cadrette for suggesting this week's title! To suggest a title for a future episode, like Judge John Hodgman on Facebook. We regularly put a call for submissions.

To the Honorable John Hodgman, re. Sunday, August 17, 2014, NYT Magazine, p. 9
As a lover of language and shoes, I am forced to rule again your use of “shod” in the following clause: ‘spend and shod yourself as you will.” Sir, be advised that “shod” is the past tense of the verb “to shoe.” I’m sure you meant to say either “spend and be shod,” or “spend and shoe yourself.”
Shoes seem to cause more than their share of usage problems. For example, while googling Walter de la Mare’s famous poem “Silver,” specifically two lines-- “Slowly, silently, now the moon/ walks the sky in her silver shoon”-- I ran into somebody earnestly informing middle school students that “shoon” really means “sheen.” “Shoon” is, of course, an archaic form of “shoes,” so his/her hapless students were deprived of the poem’s most charming metaphor.

The Internet Justice Irregulars

Now listen: I respect Dr. Banzai and all, but when the World Crime League kidnapped me and my loved ones, it was The Judge and Team Hodgman who rushed to Sumatra and to my rescue. Since then, we have all sported neat moustaches, even the girls, as a tribute to our hero.

As he has taught us, "No matter where you go, there you are judged."

Nicely done!

Missed oppurtunity

With a recent visit to Pittsburgh, and another in the offing, I'm going to consider it a missed opportunity for a man who once let the world know that "from the waist down I'm all felt," to ignore that this week's guest effectively works at his assumed father's Alma Mater. Dr Bunsen Honeydew is, of course, a proud graduate of Carnegie Mellonhead University.
