Every year right after our annual fundraising drive, we run a charity sale where all of our $10/month and up members can buy as many of the $10/month level gifts as they want–with all proceeds going towards a nonprofit. It’s one of our favorite traditions at Maximum Fun, and we’re honored that our members make it possible for us to do this.
Since we started this sale in 2017, we’ve raised over $600,000 for twelve different nonprofits! This year, we sold pins to raise money for VoteRiders, a nonpartisan charity working to ensure that all eligible U.S. citizens are able to cast a ballot that counts.
Thanks to our generous members, we raised $42,767 for VoteRiders, which is enough to:
- Secure documentation required for voter registration (e.g. an ID card) for 1,220 voters, or
- Directly reach out to 85,500 voters who are likely to need assistance registering to vote, or
- Train 8,550 volunteers who can help voters get registered, or
- Cover the costs of running VoteRiders’ dedicated helpline for 85 weeks (over a year and a half!)
With a major presidential election forthcoming, this is a critical time to support VoteRiders’ work. If you’d like to support their mission and help them protect democracy, check out their volunteering and donation pages!
If you’re not registered to vote yet, you can either go to vote.gov to register yourself, or get free help from VoteRiders if you’re experiencing barriers to registering. Every state has different voter registration deadlines, with some up to one month before the election date. If you’re in a state with a month-prior deadline and you want to vote in the upcoming presidential election, that means you need to register by October 5, 2024. And, a quick PSA to high school seniors: if you’re currently seventeen but will be turning eighteen on or before Election Day (November 5, 2024), you can register to vote!
