If you saw the fascinating documentary “King of Kong” last year, you know about Billy Mitchell, the flamboyant, strange, charming, rude master of the classic arcades. That film
grew from an unpublished article written by MaxFunPal Joshuah Bearman, whose chronicled Mitchell’s saga in exhaustive detail — so exhaustive, in fact, that the article almost ended up not getting published. Bearman, you see, didn’t want to cut it in half for GQ or Maxim or whatever. Last month, though, it finally ran in Harper’s, and Josh has provided us with the full article on his LA Weekly blog.
