Hi there!
This is it! The last day of MaxFunDrive! And right now we’re around 13,500 new, boosting, and upgrading members!
We sometimes get questions like: Why do you need thousands of new and upgrading members every year? Aren’t you just giving into that capitalistic desire for continuous growth? And the answer, genuinely, is: no.
Many people drop their memberships throughout the year—life happens! It’s one of the reasons we are so grateful to everyone who gives us continued support. But it also means we, and our shows, need new and upgrading members just to keep doing what we’re doing. If the Drive goes particularly well, then we get to do even more of what we’re doing.
I’ve talked before about how this is a hard year for podcasts, and it’s true. We’ve had to look more closely at our budget than ever before. We figure we can keep doing what we do, the way we want to do it, if we get to roughly 15,000 new, upgrading, and boosting members. If we get more than that, we can start thinking about doing more of what you love, like more live events, adding more great new shows, and more experimental work.
We are so close to our goal.
If you’re able to, can you help us get there?

Join us for tonight’s MaxFunDrive Finale show!
Today at 5pm, we’ll be livestreaming our Finale show from the Elysian Theatre in LA! If you live here, grab a ticket for free! If you can’t make it in person, join us on YouTube (set a reminder here).
- Brea Grant and Mallory O’Meara of Reading Glasses will launch an investigation–with the help of Drea Clark, Ben Harrison, and Biz Ellis–into why folks seem to be really, ahem, into faerie fiction.
- Jeremy Bent, Oscar Montoya, and Dimitry Pompée of Eurovangelists will explore the unpredictable, wonderful, and sometimes baffling nature of Eurovision with Alonso Duralde, Alexis B. Preston, and Sequoia Holmes.
- And Ross Blocher and Carrie Poppy of Oh No, Ross and Carrie! will audit their friends Janet Varney, Hal Lublin, and J. Keith van Straaten (like good friends do) using a Scientology E-meter.
And of course, we’ll be announcing the winner of our Guess how much candy fits in the Maximum Bag contest. Who will take home the bag? If you get your guess in by noon PST, it could be you!

Thank you so much for coming along on this ride! We appreciate you!
