Happy April! We’re creeping ever-closer to MaxFunDrive—but before we get there, we’ve got some show updates, a bunch of meetups, and (drum roll, please) free tickets for the MaxFunDrive Finale: MaxFunDrive Podcast Justice!
After a seven-year stint of Troubled Waters, the game show is returning to its original title and going back to its roots: bringing really funny guests from different countries together so they can destroy each other in head-to-head games (in, you know, a fun, sporting way).
The core of the show is still the same—host Dave Holmes, writers Riley Silverman and John-Luke Roberts (of Sound Heap), and producers Christian Dueñas and Laura Swisher are still at the helm. But you’ll be hearing a lot more people saying loo!
(I was gonna say jk it’s not a bathroom show, but this first episode with Jeremy Bent and Siobhan Thompson DOES talk about bathroom rules, soooo…)
(Christian is gonna be so mad at me for that parenthetical. But he won’t be able to stay mad because I told him to watch Taskmaster, and soon his heart will only know joy. Send him all your favorite non-American comedians!)
We’ll be kicking things off with a crossover extravaganza featuring a whole bunch of our shows!
Become a Matching Member!
Do you (or does someone you know) want to help people make their memberships even more impactful? Become a Matching Member by pledging to give a small amount of money for each new member who joins on a certain day. Your commitment here is totally up to you—you can pledge to give a dollar, a few dollars, or even a quarter per new member. Whatever works for you! It’ll help us cover the costs of the Drive and inspire folks to become members and support their favorite shows on that day.
Just email membership@maximumfun.org and tell us:
Your name (and whether or not you’re ok with us thanking you publicly)
How much you’d like to pledge per new member
Any cap you’d like to place on your total match
We’ll confirm your match, then get in touch with you after the Drive with a link to fulfill it. Easy peasy!
🗓️ MaxFun Meetup Day: Thursday, April 23
MaxFunsters around the world have been planning local meetups at the finest board game cafes, biergartens, libraries, clubhouses, parks, and a place called ƒ/Stop Fitzgerald’s Public House (shoutout Salem, OR)! We’ve currently got 32 meetups in all the cities below—plus, hopefully, more to come!
Not seeing a meetup near you? How about hosting one? All you’ve gotta do is find a place near you that can accommodate a small group, fill out the meetup form so we can add it to the directory, and show up at your chosen location on April 23 to have fun with your fellow podcast aficionados!
If you can’t join us in Los Angeles, you can watch from anywhere in the world via our YouTube channel! Why not have a watch party with your friends, while you’re at it?
And, speaking of the judge…
“Body-ody-ody of Evidence” was a Featured Episode on Apple Podcasts!
Monét X Change’s fiance, Andy, says that the pair first met outside of RuPaul’s DragCon in New York City back in 2018—and Andy was immediately enchanted. For Andy, this meeting is a crucial part of their love story.
The problem? Monét says that it never happened.
Who’s right? Who’s wrong? You’ll have to listen to find out!
