Part-Time Associate Producer: Black People Love Paramore

Location: Los Angeles

Schedule: Part-time (approx. 10–12 hours per episode; biweekly production cycle)

Compensation: $22–$25/hour, depending on experience

About the Show

Black People Love Paramore is a Webby Award-winning podcast that explores the underrepresented interests and cultural nuances of diverse Black communities. Through engaging, humorous, and insightful conversations, the show highlights the breadth of Black identity and pop culture engagement.

Position Summary

We are seeking a creative, organized, and culturally attuned Part-Time Associate Producer to support the development and execution of podcast episodes. This role is ideal for someone passionate about pop culture, storytelling, and digital media, who thrives in a collaborative and creative environment. We strongly encourage applicants who are passionate about centering Black voices and experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to monthly pitch sessions, bringing fresh and engaging episode ideas
  • Develop episode outlines, including:
    • Interview questions
    • Segment ideas and games
    • Suggested audio or cultural references
  • Light scheduling and coordination of recording times
  • Participate in recording sessions (training provided on audio board operation)
  • Identify and select 2–3 short-form video clips (30–90 seconds) for social media promotion
  • Prepare and publish episodes by:
    • Adding network branding to audio
    • Uploading and scheduling content to the podcast feed
  • Note: Associate Producer is not responsible for the full edit of the show

Qualifications

  • Strong interest in pop culture, particularly across the last 20 years
  • Ability to generate creative, engaging content ideas and translate them into structured outlines
  • Understanding of social media trends and what drives audience engagement
  • High level of reliability, organization, and attention to detail
  • General technical proficiency with digital tools and platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with or interest in audio editing (training available)
  • Prior experience in podcasting, media production, or content creation
  • Familiarity with podcast platforms and distribution tools

Work Commitment

  • Approximately 10–12 hours per episode
  • Episodes are produced biweekly
  • Flexible schedule with required availability for pitch sessions and bi-weekly (once every other week) recording times. Usually, recordings happen mid to late afternoon on a weekday.
  • Most recordings will be held in downtown Los Angeles; in-person attendance required.

Compensation

  • $22–$25/hour, based on experience
