Our friend Marc Maron was on Conan last night talking about Cuba, Hawaii and roosters that can't tell time.

Marc Maron is a podcast host and veteran stand up comic known for his frequently emotional and neurotic comedy. He's hosted several stand up specials and frequently appears as a guest on late night television, including a record number of appearances with Conan O'Brien.

Marc began his broadcast career by hosting Morning Sedition on the now-defunct progressive radio network Air America. He started hosting his podcast WTF with Marc Maron in 2009, interviewing fellow comedians about their careers, road stories, and occasionally delving deep into personal struggles.

Marc's new comedy album is called This Has to Be Funny.

Maron returns to The Sound to pick up where we left off in our last interview, discuss how things have turned around -- and talk about how a cynic deals with success.

Comedian Marc Maron, host of WTF joins Jesse and Jordan to play Would You Rather with Jim Real, The Master of Would You Rather, and to talk about baseball coaches, family and long-distance car travel.

• Over at the AV Club, Louis C.K. is rewarding devoted fans with with an amazingly detailed summary of how he went about making each episode in the second season of Louie.
• Chris Hardwick is all over your television. Last weekend was the premiere of his show The Nerdist on BBC America. His guests were a geeky dream team of Jonah Ray, Matt Mira, Mike Phirman, Craig Ferguson and even Doctor Who’s Matt Smith! If you missed it, you can grab the first episode from itunes. And starting October 16, Hardwick will be hosting a new show for AMC called Talking Dead. It will be a live show that airs immediately after episodes of The Walking Dead. Hardwick will recap the most recent Walking Dead episode while talking to fans, actors and producers.
• I’m excited to check out the first episode of The Dead Authors Podcast. It features time-traveling writer H.G. Wells (portrayed by alum Paul F. Tompkins) as he welcomes long-lost literary heroes to his show at L.A.’s Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater. Sounds smart and funny, right? Not sold yet? How about this: the first episode features Andy Richter as Emily Dickinson. Boom. Can’t miss.
• Ira Glass will be touring Australia in January with a show called "Reinventing Radio: An Evening with Ira Glass." He will be performing in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne. Unrelated: there are some rather delightful stories circulating about Ira's recent performance in The Drunk Show at the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival. Here he is talking about the experience with Marc Maron.

• The mayor of Houston, Texas declared August 30th "Bun B. Day" in honor of the famous rapper (and TSOYA alum) who hails from Houston and has been a strong proponent of activism in the community. If you live in Houston, you should consider attending the "Religion & Hip Hop Culture" course that Bernard "Bun B." Freeman will be teaching at Rice University on September 13th. He just recently announced that it will be open to the public (for a fee). You can find the course description here and enrollment information on the Rice University website.
• David Cross will be a guest star on Modern Family this fall. The show starts up again on September 21st.
• The September 15th issue of Rolling Stone contains a special section on "Comedy's New Wave" and it names Aziz Ansari as the "Funniest Man Under 30". It also includes interviews with Donald Glover and John Mulaney.
• Marc Maron will screen his previously unaired television pilot about WTF at this month's New York Television Festival. The screening will be at the SVA Theater on Sept. 20th and you can find ticket info here.
• Wild Flag's debut self-titled album (featuring alum Carrie Brownstein) is currently available for streaming at NPR Music.
• HBO will air a special on September 9th featuring Dick Cavett and Mel Brooks in conversation before a live audience. It's titled "Mel Brooks and Dick Cavett Together Again". Back in the day, Brooks was a frequent guest on Cavett's talk show. Here is one of my favorite clips from the show featuring a visit from Brooks not long after he released "The Producers."
